UNBREAKABLE RECORDS IN THE NBA

The NBA is undoubtedly one of the most loved and watched leagues. Its viewership and sponsorship keep on increasing with every season. It has seen some of the greatest contests in sporting history and produced legends acknowledged across borders. -Records in the NBA

The NBA doubles as producing the biggest sporting event in the U.S  and having a fan following all over the world. Last season, the NBA witnessed a 19% rise in average TV viewership (1.6 million) from previous years.

Indeed, records are meant to be broken and sports is all about contests, rivalries, and records. However, there are some NBA records that are unbreakable or yet so far. Let’s look at them.

  1. Scott Skiles

Scott featured his name in the record books of the NBA for most assists in a game (30). He achieved this feat in a match against the Denver Nuggets in 1990. Scott broke the 12-year-old record of Kevin Porter who had 29 assists. Two weeks after Scott conquered the record, the record was in jeopardy two when John Stockton made 28 assists against the San Antonio Spurs. To date, the record is still in place and no one has even come close to breaking it recently.

2. Most team points in a half

The Phoenix Suns scored the most points in a half (107) against Denver Nuggets. There were 50 and 57 points scored by the Suns in each quarter and Cedric Ceballos led the team with 173 points in total. This record was achieved in the 1990-91 season and it’s yet to be broken. Perhaps it’s going to take several odds to work in favor of a team to even come close to this record.

3.Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain has a record for the most individual points in a game (100), which is also one of the greatest records in basketball history. He scored 100 points against the Philadelphia Warriors in 1962. Wilt was in ultimate form in that season, as he averaged 50.2 points per game. The closest ever to this record was Kobe Bryant, with 81 points against the Raptors in 2006.

4. Single match attendance- Records in the NBA

In contrast to popularity, the arenas of the NBA aren’t big enough. However, in 1998, when the Hawks contested against the Bulls, something historic happened. Michael Jordan was soon to retire, and the Hawks decided to play at the Dome, which was the city’s biggest sporting facility. A total of 62,046 people in the Dome witnessed the contest as they poured in to watch Jordan play. This record is valid for the regular season only.

5. Winning streak

The Lakers hold the record for the most wins in a row (33). This feat came in the 1971-72 season when the team was firing all cylinders and went on to win the championship. Many teams have come close to breaking it but it would take more than that.

6. Most 50-pointers

Michael Jordan may be considered the greatest scorer of all time, but the record for the most 50 points is with Wilt Chamberlain. Jordan scored 50 points in a game 31 times while Wilt scored almost four times more. This record might stay forever and we might see a new option in NBA betting asking fans if anyone could break this milestone.
